2024 Rose of Pinot Noir

2024 Rose of Pinot Noir

Our 2024 Rosé, priced at $32, is a beautifully crafted wine composed of approximately 95% fruit from the Petaluma Gap.  This Rosé blends two techniques: about 80% direct-to-press and 20% Saignée (French for "bleed"). The direct-to-press portion comes from Jim McElroy’s vineyard on Chapman Lane and Panther Ridge Vineyard on Sonoma Mountain, east of Penngrove. Upon arrival, the grapes are foot-stomped—yes, just like in I Love Lucy—before spending three hours with their skins to develop a delicate pink hue and a touch of tannin. The juice is then extracted via pressing.  The Saignée portion is drawn from our Pinot Noir vineyards, including Weir, Panther Ridge, Taylors Crown, and several others. The Pinot grapes are placed into tanks, and the next morning, 5% of the juice is removed for our Rosé. The juice is fermented cold in stainless steel tanks for about 5 weeks until it is bone dry.  This is a serious wine, cleverly disguised as a lively pink partier. With fruit sourced from $4,000 to $6,000 per ton vineyards, it offers an evolving profile, revealing more of its vibrant fruit and herbal notes as it warms in the glass. Perfectly paired with watermelon and Feta Salad or grilled peach and burrata bruschetta, it is Garry’s favorite pick for a day at the beach or to compliment your Thanksgiving table. 13.5 % ABV. 440 Cases.
