2024 Spring Release Tasting Notes:
Our 2023 Pinot Blanc is a beautiful reflection of summer. It has lovely aromas of Jasmine, honeysuckle, wet stone and pear. The wine has a smooth entry, with flavors of meyer lemon zest, red apple, pear and honeysuckle with a crisp balanced mouth feel. It's lingering finish of pear, citrus and minerality makes this wine great for those warm summer nights. In crispness and body, it falls between a traditional Chardonnay and a Sauvignon Blanc. 240 cases produced. Our 2023 Rose of Pinot Noir is a beautiful salmon color. It has aromas of Rose water, tart strawberries and nectarine. On the pallet, it has a crisp entry with building flavors of rose, strawberry, peach, mandarin orange and bright red cherry. The wine has a pretty, lingering tart strawberry, raspberry, wet stone finish. Our Rose was cold fermented in stainless steel tanks to keep its floral character. Let this wine warm up just a little after coming out of the refrigerator. You will be rewarded with a beautiful depth of aromas and flavor. 250 cases produced. The 2022 Azaya Ranch Pinot Noir is a rock star of the 2022 vintage. It is a ruby color with a violet center. It has intense aromas of rose, lavender, hibiscus, black tea and baking spice. On the pallet, it offers rich flavors of red currant, sweet black cherry, baked strawberry, black tea and baking spice. It presents a silky, mouth filling texture and fresh acidity. The finish offers rasberry, red apple, blackberry, and smooth tannin. One per person please. Normally $66, Wine Club $59.40, $56.1 when you mix and match 12 or more bottles. 75 cases produced.
The 2022 Monroe Vineyard Pinot Noir is a perennial favorite. It is a pale ruby color. On the nose, the Monroe Pinot offers aromas of clove, baking spice and delicate rose. On the palate, it delivers baked and tart cherry, black tea, raspberry candy and bay tree with a pleasant earthiness. This well balanced wine finishes with fresh acidity, subtle tannin, and flavors of cherry, and violet candy. Our 2022 Petaluma Gap Pinot Noir is beautiful medium ruby color. It has a bouquet of nutmeg, vanilly, baked black cherry, earthy sage and wet stone. It has a silky entry and lovely, round mouth feel with flavors of dark cherry, berry compote, sage, bay tree and baking spice. It has a long, lingering finish with dark cherry, berries, a little leather, subtle tannins and fresh acidity. The 2022 Bennett Bench Vineyard Syrah is our first Syrah from Bennett Valley, just north east of Sonoma. Its colder climate yields intense, well balanced wines. Our Syrah has aromas of violets, white pepper, baked bread and cedar cigar box. On the pallet, it exhibits flavors of violet, dark boysenberry, blueberry, plum, and dark cherry. It builds to a round finish with flavors of violets and blackberry with lovely, balanced tannins and fresh acidity. We are also releasing our 2021 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. It will be in the wine club shipment this Fall, but will occasionally be in the tasting room menu throughout the year. It has aromas of black currant, blackberry, black olive, crushed stone blackberry and hints of pipe tobacco. On the palette, it offers blackberry, black currant, juice black cherry, sweet pipe tobacco, black olive, vanilla, sweet baking spice and a hint of molasses. It has a lingering, mouth-watering finish of black currant, boysenberry and leather, with dusty tannins. Normally $75, Wine Club $67.50, $63.75 when you order 12 or more bottles. 220 cases produced.
Tasting Notes for other wines currently in the tasting room
Our 2021 Chardonnay is a beautiful yellow gold color. It has aromas of white flowers and pineapple with gentle notes of honey and brioche. On the palate, it begins with a bright entry with flavors of green apple, mineral, citrus, lemon curd and pineapple. It has a lovely creamy finish with flavors of mineral, flint, and green caramel apple.
Our 2021 Panther Ridge Pinot Noir is a medium ruby color. It presents aromas of violet, rose, wt stone, sweet dried cherry, ripe plum and blackberry. In the mouth, it has a sweet entry with flavors of black cherry, cassis, with great structure and lovely density and notes of Sichuan pepper corns. On the finish, it offers black tea, blackberry, anise, and notes of sage.
The 2022 Russian River Pinot is close cousin of the 2021 vintage. It is a medium ruby color. When you first pull the cork, you may get notes of black tar, sage, and roasted hazelnut. As you swirl it in the glass, you get aromas of bay rum, toasty oak, orange peel, cherry chutney, and sweet, toasty notes of a campsite in the sierras in the morning. In the mouth, it has a sweet entry with rounded tannin and juicy acidity. It offers notes of tart cherries, plum and a little Dr Pepper. On the finish, it offers lovely baking spice, tart cherry, a hint of cola.
The 2022 Weir Vineyard Pinot Noir is a pale ruby color. It has an elegant bouquet of raspberry, dark cherry, fennel and hints of rose. On the palate, it has a silky-smooth entry and flavors of cherry, red plum, baking spice, raspberry, leather, and cardamon. The smooth tannins continue through the palate. It finishes with long, intense cherry, candied strawberry, tea, dusty rose, mouthwatering acidity and delicate tanning. Its elegant flavors, silky structure, finesse, and long age-ability make it an exceptional wine! Our 2021 Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre Blend is a pale purple color. On the nose, it begins with cherry and citrus, then heads toward wet stone, sandalwood, and ripe berry. On the pallet, it offers flavors of Chambord, red current, juicy acidy, nectarine and roses. On the finish, it offers firm tannin, with flavors of tart cherries, sweet white flowers, nectarine, and aromatic bitters.
2021 Syrah, Stolpman Vineyard, Ballard Canyon: This is a new vineyard for us in 2021 It is in the rolling hills to the north west of Santa Barbara, just south of the town of Los Olivos. It is a cooler climate Syrah. Our Syrah has a lovely purple color, with aromas of raspberry, lavender, wild blackberry, violet with a slightly herbal undertone. On the pallet, it has a light, sweet entry with supportive tannins and flavors of black plum, blueberry, blackberry, and dark berry cobbler. It has a bright, juicy finish with notes of red currents, baking spice, and we stone. 45 cases produced. Normally $50, Wine Club $45, $42.50 when you mix and match 12 or more bottles.
