2023 Spring Release Tasting Notes:

2022 Pinot Blanc, Mendocino County: Our 2022 Pinot Blanc is a beautiful reflection of summer.  It has a pale straw color and lovely aromas of Jasmine, lemon blossom and pear.  The wine has a smooth entry, with flavors of lemon zest, honeydew melon, honeysuckle and white peach with a crisp balanced mouth feel.  It's lingering finish of citrus and minerality makes this wine great for those warm summer nights. In crispness and body, it falls between a traditional Chardonnay and a Sauvignon Blanc. 275 cases produced.  Normally $34/btl, Wine Club: $30.60/btl, or $28.90/btl when you mix and match 12 or more bottles. 

2020 Chardonnay, Monroe Vineyard, Sonoma Coast: Our 2020 Monroe Vineyard Chardonnay has an alluring gold color and aromas of baked apples, crème brulé and brioche.   On the palate, it begins with savory baked apple, lemon curd, and tropical notes transitioning to baked apple, pear tart, and ripe pineapple on the finish.  The buttery flavors are reminiscent of our 17 Chardonnay.  It was fermented in neutral oak barrels to give it the roundness and silky mouthfeel you expect in a Chardonnay, without toasty, oaky flavors. 60 cases produced. Normally $34/btl, Wine Club: $30.60/btl, or $28.90/btl when you mix and match 12 or more bottles. 2022 Rose of Pinot Noir, Petaluma Gap, Sonoma County: Our 2022 Rose of Pinot Noir is 55% direct to press and 45% signee. It has beautiful aromas of Rose water, strawberries and watermelon. On the pallet, it has a crisp entry building to flavors of rose, strawberry, nectarine, grapefruit and peach. The wine has a pretty, lingering tart strawberry, mineral and citrus finish.  Our Rose was cold fermented in stainless steel tanks to keep its floral character. Let this wine warm up just a little after coming out of the refrigerator. You will be rewarded with a beautiful depth of aromas and flavor. 250 cases produced. Normally $30/btl, Wine Club: $27/btl, or $25.50/btl when you mix and match 12 or more bottles.

2020 Pinot Noir, Weir Vineyard, Yorkville Highlands, Mendocino County: The 2020 Weir Vineyard Pinot Noir is a garnet color.  It has a bouquet of rose, bay tree and baking spice.  On the palate, it has a silky-smooth entry and full body with flavors of cherry, plum, blackberry, black tea, nutmeg and rose.  The smooth tannins continue through the palate. It finishes with a supple tannin, juicy acidity, framboise (raspberry liquor) long and a pop of tart cherry. Its elegant flavors, silky structure, finesse, and long age-ability make it an exceptional wine! 125 cases produced. Normally $52/btl, Wine Club: $46.80/btl, or $44.20/btl when you mix and match 12 or more bottles.

2021 Pinot Noir, Petaluma Gap, Sonoma County: Our 2021 Petaluma Gap Pinot Noir is from 2 new vineyards for Brooks Note in 2021.  It is from Paradise Vineyard in the South East corner of the Petaluma Gap and Panther Ridge Vineyard on the slopes of Sonoma Mountain near the north east corner of the Petaluma Gap.  It is a beautiful violet color in the center of the glass fading to garnet edges.  It has aromas of  violets, strawberries, blackberry, black tea, forest floor and a hint of sage.  On the pallet, it has a smooth round entry with supportive tannin and juicy acidity.  It has flavors of blueberry, boysenberry, blackberry cobbler, and just a hint of sage.  It has a long, structured finish with balanced tannins with flavors of blackberry, black tea, blueberry, and fleeting herbal note.  180 cases produced. 2021 Pinot Noir, Monroe Vineyard, Sonoma Coast:  Our Monroe Vineyard Pinot has a lovely garnet to ruby color with aromas of baking spice, leather, bay rum, dried cherry, rose and sweet vanilla.  On the pallet, it has a round, juicy mouth feel and flavors of tart cherry, dried cherry, leather, tobacco, cedar with beautiful, juicy acidity.  Gentle tannin on the finish is accompanied by a little leather, plum, wet stone. 60 cases produced. 2021 Syrah, Stolpman Vineyard, Ballard Canyon: This is a new vineyard for us in 2021 It is in the rolling hills to the north west of Santa Barbara, just south of the town of Los Olivos.  It is a cooler climate Syrah.  Our Syrah has a lovely purple color, with aromas of raspberry, lavender, wild blackberry, violet with a slightly herbal undertone.  On the pallet, it has a light, sweet entry with supportive tannins and flavors of black plum, blueberry, blackberry, and dark berry cobbler.  It has a bright, juicy finish with notes of red currents, baking spice, and we stone.  45 cases produced. 2021 Pinot Noir, Russian River, Sonoma County: The 2021 Russian River Pinot Noir is a new wine for us. On the nose, it offers cola, Bay Tree, cherry pie, dried strawberry, orange blossom and a hint of baking spice (cinnamon and cloves).  On the palette, it has a smooth entry and subtle tannins with flavors of leather, tart cherry, and cranberry with a hint of cherry cola. It offers generous fruit flavors in the mid palate and has a lingering finish of tart cherry and a hint of bay tree. 105 cases produced. Normally $42, Wine Club $37.80, $35.70  when you mix and match 12 or more bottles.

2020 Pinot Noir, North Coast: Our 2020 North Coast Pinot Noir is the perfect wine for a Tuesday night, or a large Fall crowd. It is a beautiful, lighter wine crafted from a difficult vintage. It opens with aromas of rose, berry, cedar, leather and tobacco.  On the palate, it offers cranberry, juicy cherry, plum, vanilla and forest floor flavors. It has a nice finish of tart, herbs, and cedar. 225 cases produced. Normally $30, Wine Club $27, $25.50 when you mix and match 12 or more bottles.

2020 Cabernet Sauvignon, Circle S Vineyard, San Benito County: With 13.5% alcohol, bright fruit flavors, and only a hint of oak, our 2020 Circle S Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. is a lighter style cab than you often find in Northern California. It has aromas of blueberry, cassis, cedar, boysenberry and a gentle toasty oak. On the palette, it has a bright entry, with flavors of blackberry pie, blueberry, dark cherry, and creme de violet.  It has a lingering, mouth-watering finish of blackberry, violet candy and casis supported by subtle tannins. 100 cases produced. 2020 Grenache (65%), Syrah (20%), Mourvèdre (15%) Blend (GSM), San Benito County: The 2020 Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre Blend (GSM) is from the cool pass between Hollister and the Central Valley. It begins with flavors of dusty strawberry, and candied cherry and builds toward Chambord (Raspberry Liquor), with earthy notes from the Syrah and Mourvèdre. It’s supported by subtle tannin that builds in the mid-palate and supports the weight of the Syrah and Mourvèdre on the finish. The 13.8% alcohol is low for a GSM and is reminiscent of similar blends from the Southern Rhone. 120 cases produced. Normally $42, Wine Club $37.80, when you mix and match 12 or more bottles.

2020 Syrah, San Benito County: The 2020 Syrah is from the cool pass between Hollister and the Central Valley. It has aromas of violets, white pepper, cardamom and cassis. On the pallet, it exhibits flavors of violets, dark boysenberry, blueberry, plum, dried cherry and a hint of graphite.  It builds to a mouthwatering finish with flavors of boysenberry, baking spice and lovely balanced tannins. 25 cases produced.
