2022 Monroe Pinot Noir
The 2022 Monroe Vineyard Pinot Noir ($60) comes from a small, secluded vineyard just south of Sebastopol. The vineyard is planted in Goldridge soil, a sandy loam that challenges the vines and leads to small berries and intense flavors. Situated just a ridge back from the Petaluma Gap, this vineyard benefits from a unique microclimate, with morning fog and cool evenings that preserve the wine's acidity and lengthen the growing season. This cold-climate Pinot Noir showcases beautiful floral and spice notes, offering a contrast to the jammy fruit profiles of warmer Russian River wines. With only 50 cases produced, it's an exclusive wine aged in once-used French oak, with about 15% whole cluster fermentation, making it a rare and refined expression of Russian River Pinot Noir.
