2022 Chardonnay
The 2022 Chardonnay is our first that is not all from Monroe Vineyard. Due to the small size of Monroe Vineyard, we needed to expand our sourcing to include Hall Road and Critchfield-Black Vineyard. Monroe Vineyard is planted to the aromatic Wente Clone in goldridge soil, which is a sandy loam that produces small clusters that yield wines with intense flavors.
Hall Road Vineyard is also planted to Wente clone in clay loam soils in the Santa Rosa Plains between Santa Rosa and Sebastopol. The wine produced from this site shows a bit more of a tropical note than Monroe.
Critchfield-Black Vineyard is planted to clone 4 Chardonnay on the benchlands of Sonoma Mountain in the Petaluma Gap. We love the bright acidity and intense pear and apple notes that this component adds to the blend.
