2023 Sweet Vineyard Pinot Noir
Grown on the rugged slopes of Sonoma Mountain, the 2023 Sweet Family Vineyard Pinot Noir is a reflection of its unique environment. At 750 feet of elevation, nestled just below a false ridge and surrounded by towering oaks and redwoods, this vineyard experiences a steady 8 mph breeze from the Petaluma Gap, fostering a long growing season and thick-skinned berries that enhance the wine’s depth and structure. Planted by renowned viticulturists Charlie and Amy Chenoweth, this vineyard features an exciting blend of Pinot Noir clones—La Tache, 23, 459, 37, and Pommard—each adding layers of complexity. The volcanic tuft soil, reminiscent of the white fractal soils of Rioja, contributes to the wine’s distinct minerality. With no new oak and 15% whole cluster fermentation, this Pinot Noir showcases purity of fruit, elegant tannins, and a beautifully refined finish.
